DESCRIPTION:The snow has all melted\, the trees and flowers are blooming\, and Literacy Connections is going back to In-Person Tutoring!\n\n\n\nIt has been a long difficult road but with warmer weather and vaccine rollout\, we are finally on the road to normal. For us here at Literacy Connections\, that means in-person tutoring. We have been incredibly grateful to all of you who have stuck with us as we’ve traversed the difficult waters of online tutoring. Now we are finally shifting back to our normal\, we know meeting with your students is something that you missed\, and we’re so happy that the time has come to get back to it.

SUMMARY:New Volunteer Orientation
DESCRIPTION:Do you like the idea of helping someone learn to read and write?  Find out what volunteering for Literacy Connections is all about!  We’ll give you an overview of our history\, the issue of illiteracy\, and points to remember when working with adults who cannot read.  Our most pressing current volunteer needs are tutors (to work one-on-one with basic readers or English language learners) and small-group teachers (for English language learners).  You don’t have to be a teacher already to volunteer – we will provide training.  And there are other ways to help us promote literacy if teaching isn’t your thing.  Please join us in helping people to read\, write\, and reach their potential!  Orientation is required for anyone wanting to work with students. \nThis meeting will take place online via Zoom.  To register\, email Heather at colgreene@literacyconnections.org
